Wenn auch das vorliegende Buch “Der Libanon durch die Linse von Munir Nasr” nicht das erste seiner Art ist, so ist es doch gewiß ein Werk, das neue Perspektiven über die touristischen Regionen des Libanon eröffnet. Die meisten dieser Städte und Regionen, die hier so eindrucksvoll dargestellt werden, haben in der Geschichte des Libanon eine erstrangige Rolle gespielt und somit die Begehrlichkeit von Herrschern und Eroberern geweckt, ebenso wie die Faszination von Gelehrten und Schriftstellern wie bspw. Ernest Renan, Maurice Dunand und viele andere. Diese brachten dem Libanon ein wissenschaftliches und künstlerisches Interesse entgegen; sie versuchten, den geheimnisvollen Schleier zu lüften, der diese Städte umhüllte, und ihr Wissen über ihre bewegte Vergangenheit zu vertiefen.
