Roland Sidawy est né en Égypte durant la première décennie du XXe siècle. Dans les années cinquante, il s’est installé au Liban où il a exercé le métier de pharmacien. Mais c’est la photographie qui a occupé la première place dans sa vie, et il nous a légué de nombreuses images en noir et blanc du Liban des années 1950 à 1980. Cet ouvrage présente une partie de l’oeuvre de ce magicien de la lumière : des paysages et des hommes dans un monde rural encore préservé.
Roland Sidawy was born in Egypt in the first decade of the 20th century. During the fifties, he moved to Lebanon where he worked as a pharmacist. But it is indeed photography that played the biggest role in his life, and he left us with many black and white images of Lebanon from the 1950 to the 1980s. This book shows us part of the large body of work of this magician of light: Landscapes and people of a rural world still well preserved.
