Synopsis
Chroniqueur depuis plusieurs années pour le journal l’Orient-Le Jour, Georges Boustany publie un recueil de photos nommé « Avant d’oublier ». Dans la même veine que ses chroniques pour l’Orient-Le Jour, ce livre est une porte ouverte vers un Liban du passé, figé dans des photos d’anonymes et d’amateurs.
C’est un véritable album de famille que je remets entre vos mains. Avant d’être des pièces de collection appartenant au monde de la photo “vernaculaire”, c’est-à-dire d’anonymes, d’amateurs, ces objets nous viennent de personnes disparues, de greniers abandonnés, de caisses jetées aux ordures pour débarrasser une maison à détruire, parfois de ruines de guerre; vous en avez certainement de similaires chez vous, dans les albums de vos parents ou les cadres Art déco de vos grands-parents. Ces photos vous toucheront profondément: vous ne manquerez pas, au fil des pages, d’y reconnaître des personnages, une ambiance, un quartier qui ne sont plus, un décor familier qui, telle la madeleine de Proust, remuera en vous, parfois jusqu’aux larmes, des sensations oubliées. Ces photos vous parleront d’un monde aboli. Elles sont les traces poignantes d’une époque qui s’est abruptement terminées le dimanche 13 avril 1975.
Avant d’oublier, avant qu’elles-mêmes, ne s’estompent, les voici dans toute leur gloire. Avant d’oublier, voici des personnages qui ont vécu, aimé, haï, fait des enfants, peuplé un monde dont de moins en moins de vivants se souviennent. Avant d’oublier, voici les traves que ces sans noms mais pas sans cœur ont voulu laisser à la postérité et que je me devais de vous transmettre pour leur rendre hommage. Avant d’oublier, voici un certain Liban dont les restes se rétrécissent comme peau de chagrin. Un jour plus très lointain, tout ceci ne dira plus rien à personne.

All prices include shipping and handling. LebanonPostcard will be responsible for sending the packages you order, at your charge, through the service D.H.L. / E.M.S. with tracking number code guaranteeing reception of the package.
We ship as soon as possible, but within maximum 4 days after the order is received.
Credit cards are not charged until we actually ship the items. The items may take between one and six days to arrive, according to the country they are sent to.
Packages are sent with track code to guarantee reception, and delay is rare. In the event of non-delivery or delay, nothing can be done for 7 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made for the package to be traced. If 14 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
Packages inside Lebanon are sent registered through LibanPost to guarantee reception, and delay or non-delivery is rare. In the event of non-delivery, nothing can be done for 6 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made to LibanPost for the package to be traced. If 12 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
