Despite extensive excavations over the last hundred years, the records of the stratigraphy and architecture of Byblos, an important Phoenician site, are somewhat random. Dr Saghieh has brought order to these records and from them has been able to reconstruct a framework for any future study of Byblos, and has dated the different strata in relation to the surrounding civilisations.
