Combien nous a semblé dérisoire la décision hautement patriotique de publier les écrits d’écrivains et de penseurs qui ont tous magnifié les vertus du Liban et des Libanais, à un moment où règnent dans ce pays l’immoralité, la concussion et l’inculture. Il y aura certainement des lecteurs parmi la vieille garde qui connaissent les travaux de ces auteurs pour lire leurs textes, mais y aura-t-il ensuite quelqu’un pour les écouter ? C’est la crainte de voir partir en fumée ces écrits qui nous a fait hésiter, en raison de l’érosion du sentiment national au profit de l’appartenance partisane, clanique ou communautaire. Nous avons l’impression que les vrais Libanais qui ne veulent pas s’embrigader dans un de ces carcans ne sont plus considérés comme tels.
