Spaces and Species – Because every being has a home and because space holds the absolute dimension to all the homes of all the beings who share the planet, this series is thus dedicated. The Mediterranean constitutes the realm of the species herein observed, yet some expand beyond its boundaries, while others can only survive within this highly diverse system in strict enclosures dictated by time, natural history and the elements.

The series consummates the works of the authors over more than three and a half decades. The fascination created the constant drive that led the authors to the fields to inhale the natural beauty. The ecological understanding satiated the minds of the scientists in a continuous animation of concepts and principles bringing them to root with their teachings. The amalgamation fueled their passionate and consecrated love of the nature of Lebanon and led them over the years to document this natural treasure from the Mediterranean. Fieldwork marked their daylight activity roaming the land of Lebanon learning and recording their findings, sampling the plant life to take back to their laboratory. The extended evenings were spent between their stereoscopes and their computers. The natural riches uncovered to their eyes lay the foundations to this series, which displays the diversity of the Mediterranean inheritance revealing its merit for acknowledgment, appreciation and protection as a world natural heritage.
