LebanonPostcard presents the book Portraits Photographiques d’Orient, réalisés par des Jésuites en mission, sous la direction de Lévon Nordiguian et May Semaan Seigneurie – Presses de l’Université Saint-Joseph, hardcover book, 26x24cm, 144 pages.
Après plusieurs albums photographiques à caractère monographique consacrés à A. Poidebard, J. Delore, M. Jullien et P. Soulerin et publiés dans les Presses de l’Université Saint-Joseph, ce livre propose un choix de portraits photographiques réalisés par des Jésuites pendant leur séjour au Proche-Orient en tant que membre des missions en Arménie, Syrie et Liban dans la première moitié du XXè siècle. Par portrait, nous entendons des photographies rapprochées de personnes où l’expression du visage est clairement exprimée et où le sujet pose devant la camera en se prêtant d’une certaine manière au jeu du photographe. A ce titre, le portrait est à la fois un art de la personne et un art de l’image.
Toutes ces photographies proviennent encore une fois du précieux fonds de la Bibliothèque Orientale de l’USJ. La plupart sont inédites, et celles qui sont déjà connues acquièrent une nouvelle signification dans ce regroupement thématique. Plusieurs Jésuites ont excellé dans l’art du portrait, surtout P. de Vrégiles, J. Delore, H. Charles, G. de Jerphanion, A. Poidebard.
L’ouvrage s’ouvre avec un beau texte introductif de Chérif Majdalani, accompagné de notices du père Charles Libois et de Lévon Nordiguian qui visent à situer les portraits dans l’Orient des Jésuites.

All prices include shipping and handling. LebanonPostcard will be responsible for sending the packages you order, at your charge, through the service D.H.L. / E.M.S. with tracking number code guaranteeing reception of the package.
We ship as soon as possible, but within maximum 4 days after the order is received.
Credit cards are not charged until we actually ship the items. The items may take between one and six days to arrive, according to the country they are sent to.
Packages are sent with track code to guarantee reception, and delay is rare. In the event of non-delivery or delay, nothing can be done for 7 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made for the package to be traced. If 14 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
Packages inside Lebanon are sent registered through LibanPost to guarantee reception, and delay or non-delivery is rare. In the event of non-delivery, nothing can be done for 6 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made to LibanPost for the package to be traced. If 12 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
