Il est rare que des photos portent en elles le temps, car elles renvoient par définition à un ici et à maintenant. C’est pourtant ce que réussissent à contenir celles, magnifiques, que Jean-Michel Vinay a faites de Beyrouth, non le Beyrouth pittoresque et “couleur locale” cher au cœur des néo-orientalistes, non plus le Beyrouth de la guerre, devenu un fonds de commerce rentable, mais celui qui raconte un peuple, des multiples facettes, ses mutations et des soubresauts. C’est à cette histoire aussi que font implicitement allusion les textes de Jean-Michel Vinay lui-même, comme si le photographe portait, à son insu, une vie antérieure qui affleure de temps en temps.
Jean-Michel Vinay – Prix d’auteur à 18 ans, étudiant en arts plastiques/histoire de l’art, à Aix-en-Provence, il côtoie deux ans durant Willy Bonis auquel, en jeune étudiant effronté, il s’oppose régulièrement sur la fonction de la photographie (humaniste/plasticienne). Il expose son travail à Vienne, il a 22 ans. Jean-Claude Lemagny, conservateur en charge de la photographie à la Bibliothèque Nationale, lui commande quelques tirages.
Il achève sa maîtrise en esthétique de l’image: “photographie en couleur(s)” en 1979. Depuis il a fait, fait faire ou acquis des centaines de photos pour son agence de communication. Les autres images, celles qui n’ont d’autre objet que de constituer au fil des années une fragile voie poétique hors des échanges marchands, sont restées dans des classeurs ou sur des disques durs. Un seul livre d’images personnelles a été édité en 1998, “pour les amis”.

All prices include shipping and handling. LebanonPostcard will be responsible for sending the packages you order, at your charge, through the service D.H.L. / E.M.S. with tracking number code guaranteeing reception of the package.
We ship as soon as possible, but within maximum 4 days after the order is received.
Credit cards are not charged until we actually ship the items. The items may take between one and six days to arrive, according to the country they are sent to.
Packages are sent with track code to guarantee reception, and delay is rare. In the event of non-delivery or delay, nothing can be done for 7 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made for the package to be traced. If 14 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
Packages inside Lebanon are sent registered through LibanPost to guarantee reception, and delay or non-delivery is rare. In the event of non-delivery, nothing can be done for 6 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made to LibanPost for the package to be traced. If 12 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
