Partant de 1897, date à laquelle Alexandre Promio réalise le premier film jamais tourné au Liban pour le compte des Frères Lumière, et s’étendant jusqu’à l’année 2015, Le Cinéma au Liban retrace une tumultueuse histoire. Cet ouvrage bilingue propose une exploration en profondeur du sujet, s’appuyant sur une large sélection iconographique, onze conversations menées avec des personnalités clefs de l’industrie cinématographique – réalisateurs, producteurs, comédiens, exploitants de salles -, et une riche filmographie. Avec ce livre, Raphaël Millet réécrit l’histoire du cinéma au Liban dans le contexte plus large de l’histoire filmique. L’auteur nous fait chronologiquement découvrir les premiers temps, l’Âge d’Or, la période de la guerre et celle de l’après-guerre, mettant en lumière la détermination et l’ingéniosité de cette industrie qui a su résister, survivre et se renouveler.
S’adressant à un large lectorat allant du grand public aux spécialistes, Le Cinéma au Liban propose des analyses de films détaillées, une remise en contexte essentielle et un accès à des archives visuelles exclusives. L’AUTEUR

Raphaël Millet a enseigné le cinéma à l’Université Paris III Sorbonne-Nouvelle ainsi qu’à l’École supérieure d’études cinématographiques (ESEC-AIA), à Paris. Il a aussi abordé de nombreux sujets ayant trait aux cinémas français, africains, méditerranéens, moyen-orientaux et asiatiques dans des livres, articles et conférences depuis le milieu des années 1990, écrivant pour des revues telles que Positif, Trafic, Cinémathèque, Simulacres, Qantara et BiblioAsia. Il a également publié différents ouvrages tels que Cinémas de la Méditerranée, cinémas de la mélancolie (L’Harmattan, 2002), Le Cinéma de Singapour (L’Harmattan, 2004) et Singapore Cinema (EDM, 2006).

We ship as soon as possible, but within maximum 4 days after the order is received.
Credit cards are not charged until we actually ship the items. The items may take between one and six days to arrive, according to the country they are sent to.

Packages are sent with track code to guarantee reception, and delay is rare. In the event of non-delivery or delay, nothing can be done for 7 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made for the package to be traced. If 14 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.

Packages inside Lebanon are sent registered through LibanPost to guarantee reception, and delay or non-delivery is rare. In the event of non-delivery, nothing can be done for 6 days. At the end of this period, on our being informed, a demand will be made to LibanPost for the package to be traced. If 12 days after the first dispatch there is still no delivery, a second package will be sent free.
