Titles of the paintings are taken from the original titles given by Gibran or, sometimes, by Mary Haskell, which were found in Twenty Drawings by Kahlil Gibran. ed. A. Knopf, 1919, or in brochures of his exhibitions, or in articles that appeared in the press when such exhibitions were held, as well as in the Gibran-Mary Haskell correspondence. Other titles are mostly those assigned by Mr. Wahib Kayrouz in Gibran in His Museum, 2nd ed. 1997 and Gibran Museum, 2nd ed. 1999.

Several commentaries appeared in the margins of the book and they were taken almost exclusively from the correspondence between Kahlil Gibran (K.G.) and Mary Haskell (M.H.) as well as from Mary Haskell’s Diary, in which she recorded Gibran’s observations during their meetings.
