Description

LebanonPostcard presents the Book The Story of Lebanon in Pictures – Le Liban à travers les images – Nina Jidejian – Hardcover book, 338 pages, 22.5×24.5 cm, in English and French.

There exists in Lebanon today a generation of children who since the year 1975 have only experienced fear and bewilderment, bereavement and tears.
They know little of the rich cultural heritage and background of the country in which they live for security and peace have been constantly overshadowed by violence and vengeance, heartbreak and death.

This small volume is an attempt to bring to each one of them in simple words and eloquent pictures the story of Lebanon from its origin thousands of years ago to this day.

To the children of Lebanon, the generation of the future, this book is dedicated with confidence and with hope.

Lebanon is a very small country with a very long history. So long that its beginning is lost in the mists of Time. So far back that the memory of it has faded away.
Yet there are traces here and there in Lebanon left behind by early Man that allow us to look back thousands and thousands of years. These traces, however modest they may be, a stone tool, a flint arrowhead or a piece of pottery, when patiently put together like in a jigsaw puzzle, allow us to tell you the story of Lebanon in pictures today.
