Unforgettable Valley

The Valley filled with incense sweetness has become light-filled space for me. Here I walk along the gateway traveled by departed souls.

I step into the holy place. Amid the incense, the murals and the light. Here, as there I carry with me what is beyond the caves memories that transcend all time.

Toute la vallée des Saints ressemble à une vaste nef naturelle dont le ciel est le dôme, les crêtes du Liban, les piliers, et les innombrables cellules des ermites creusées dans les flancs du rocher, les chapelles. Ces ermitages sont suspendus sur des précipices qui semblent inabordables. Il y en a, comme des nids d’hirondelles, à toutes les hauteurs des parois de la vallée. Les uns ne sont qu’une grotte creusée dans la pierre; les autres, de petites maisonnettes bâties entre les racines de quelques arbres, sur les corniches avancées des montagnes.
